Overview.

I have practiced law since 1985, focused mainly on financial areas (estates/trusts, estate administration, business, contract, commercial, pensions/employee benefits, mergers/acquisitions). Additionally, I taught business law at the Executive MBA level for over 15 years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

I have also served on many boards over my 36-year career, including Airlite Plastics Co., with whom I’ve served since 2010. I enjoy solving difficult legal and business problems. I am currently mostly focusing my practice on estate planning, post-death estate and trust administration, and general business representation.

My Story

Who I am.

I was born and raised in Omaha. I attended school here through high school. I attended the University of Iowa for my undergrad and law degrees. Early in my career, I worked in a family-based law firm with my dad and two brothers. After 32 years of private practice, I joined a local corporate trust company as Vice President and Trust Officer. Two years later, in 2021, I re-entered private practice.

I have been married since 1987. My wife and I have raised four kids, all of whom kept us busy with club and school soccer. We are now “empty-nesters,” which allows me to spend even more time and attention on my professional pursuits.

My Values.

These are things that I believe are important in the way I live and work. These are the behaviors that motivate me and guide my decisions.

Diligence

Careful and persistent work

Detail

Consideration of all variables

Practicality

Deploying experience instead of theories or ideas

Personalization

Working within your particular situation, not a cold, repeated process

Publication

Featured Article.

The Nebraska Lawyer asked me to publish a featured article for their January/February 2020 edition. In this article, I write about what I learned as a Trust Officer that I wish I had known as a practicing lawyer.

Let’s work together.

No matter where you are in your journey, I am ready to help.
